Meri Brown Refuses to Shoulder the Blame for Fallout with Robyn Brown
In a revealing sneak peek of the upcoming Sister Wives one-on-one special airing June 8, Meri Brown is making it clear—she’s not taking the fall for her deteriorating friendship with Robyn Brown.
During her sit-down with host Sukanya Krishnan, Meri responded directly to Robyn’s allegation that she hasn’t been responsive to attempts at reconciliation since leaving the polygamous marriage with Kody Brown.
“You’re feeling hurt because I walked away—that’s your burden to carry, not mine,” Meri firmly stated. “That’s not something I need to take on.”
Meri, 54, noted that for years she had been absorbing guilt and trying to take responsibility for various family issues. But that chapter is closed.
“I used to constantly put others’ needs before mine, always thinking I had to take the blame,” she shared. “I had to learn to stop doing that.”
A Fractured Bond
Though Meri doesn’t go as far as to label her current dynamic with Robyn “cold,” she admits their once-strong sisterly connection has diminished significantly.
“It’s just not there anymore,” she said with some sadness. “And that’s really unfortunate.”
Their fallout is one of several fractures in the Brown family since Meri, along with Janelle and Christine, left Kody Brown over the past few years.
Kody Brown’s Perspective
Kody Brown, now only legally married to Robyn, addressed the ongoing family drama during a recent episode, saying he feels he and Robyn have been unfairly criticized for staying together.
“There’s something divine about my connection with Robyn,” he said. “We’ve been slammed for it, and I’m over it. I love this woman, and I just want peace. But honestly, I’m walking around flipping the bird because I’m tired of being made to feel guilty for loving her.”
Meri’s Take on Kody’s Mixed Messages
Back in the Sept. 15 premiere of the current season, Meri explained that Kody misled her into believing there was still hope for their marriage—even after years of tension.
“He told me that moving to Flagstaff would be a fresh start,” she revealed. “But that was a false promise, like so many before.”
Her frustration stems not just from his lack of emotional commitment but also his unwillingness to clearly express his intentions.
“He never communicated what he truly wanted,” she said. “It was always unclear.”
Eventually, she saw through it all. “He told me so many times he didn’t love me. I think he wanted me to be the one to leave so he wouldn’t look like the bad guy.”
Her close friends celebrated her decision to walk away. “They were like, ‘It’s about time!’” Meri recalled.
What Happened to the Coyote Pass Dream?
Another point of contention has been the family’s shared property in Flagstaff, Arizona. Despite years of plans to build on the 14-acre parcel known as Coyote Pass, Kody recently expressed his desire to abandon the project.
“I’m ready to sell it and start over,” he told Robyn in the season premiere.
Robyn didn’t share the sentiment. “I can’t even talk about that,” she said. “That’s not where I’m at at all.”
Janelle Brown’s Breaking Point
For Janelle, who shares six children with Kody, the final straw was his failing relationship with their kids.
“He didn’t seem willing to fight for his relationship with them,” Janelle said. “That was the dealbreaker.”
Though Kody tried to broach reconciliation, Janelle stood firm. “I can’t move forward with someone who doesn’t have a relationship with my children. My kids will always come first.”
The Divide Between Kody and His Kids
Kody admitted he feels out of place within the broader family.
“I don’t fit in anymore,” he confessed. “I have a stable relationship with Robyn and our kids, but my ties with the rest of the family are weak.”
One such strained bond is with Madison, Janelle’s daughter. Janelle confirmed that Madison has cut off contact with both Kody and Robyn.
“She doesn’t want him around unless he can show consistency,” she explained. “She’s extremely protective of her children.”
Kody and Robyn’s Relationship Isn’t Immune to the Drama
Ironically, despite being Kody’s last remaining wife, Robyn says their marriage is struggling the most.
“We’re at our worst point ever,” Robyn admitted. “He’s paranoid that I’ll reject him too.”
She added that she constantly has to reassure him and protect their relationship from collapse. “It’s exhausting being married to someone who’s simultaneously divorcing three other women.”
Kody confessed he’s struggling with self-worth. “I can’t even look in the mirror and say I love myself,” he said.
Meanwhile, watching her fellow sister wives thrive post-divorce has left Robyn feeling abandoned.
“They’re all moving on,” she said. “I’m the one left behind.”
Kody Never Loved Meri?
In one of the most heartbreaking revelations, Meri recalled a conversation from their 32nd wedding anniversary, during which Kody allegedly confessed he never truly loved her.
“He said he felt obligated to marry me,” she shared. “But if that’s true, why propose at all? Why pretend for three decades?”
Kody refused to engage with that narrative, brushing off her claims.
But he did admit their marriage had always been rocky. “I had stronger relationships with Christine, Janelle, and Robyn,” he said. “I should’ve ended it 25 years ago, but I was afraid I’d never be allowed to marry again.”
Legal Action on the Horizon
As if the emotional toll wasn’t enough, legal drama may be brewing. Janelle revealed that unresolved issues over the family property might force her hand.
“If Kody won’t discuss it, I may need to get a lawyer involved,” she told Christine.
