Jennifer Aniston’s Fitness Coach Dani Coleman Shares How Often You Should Really Be Working Out

When it comes to starting or maintaining a workout routine, many people feel overwhelmed by the pressure to do it all perfectly. But according to Dani Coleman—head trainer at Pvolve and fitness coach to Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston—consistency and self-compassion are more important than intensity or perfection.

In a recent interview with E! News, Coleman opened up about her realistic and balanced approach to fitness, sharing advice that can benefit both beginners and fitness enthusiasts alike.

The Magic Number: 3 to 4 Workouts a Week

So how often should you be working out? Coleman suggests aiming for three to four sessions per week.

“As a trainer, four times a week is ideal,” she said, “but for most people with busy lives, three is more realistic and still very effective.”

Start Small, Stay Consistent

Coleman emphasizes that it's better to start slow and stay consistent than to go all in and burn out.

“One of the biggest mistakes I see is people diving in too quickly and doing too much too soon,” she explained. “It’s not about going full throttle right away—it’s about creating a habit. I always tell clients: choose consistency over intensity.”

She believes that forming a daily movement habit, no matter how small, builds the foundation for long-term success. “Even if it’s just a short walk or a gentle stretch, those small daily choices add up over time.”

Listen to Your Body

Another key part of Coleman’s approach is tuning in to what your body needs on any given day.

“Some days you’ll feel energized and ready to go. Other days, you might only have 30 minutes and half your usual energy,” she said. “And that’s okay. We work with what we have. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s progress.”

According to Coleman, honoring your body and adjusting your workouts based on your current physical and mental state is vital. “No two bodies are the same, and we celebrate that at Pvolve.”

New Campaign: Sculpt Anywhere with Pvolve

Coleman is also leading the charge on Pvolve’s new campaign, Sculpt Anywhere, which brings Jennifer Aniston’s favorite workouts to more people nationwide.

“We toured the country and took the Pvolve experience to several cities,” she said. “But it’s also available online through our virtual studio and on-demand workouts. It’s amazing to see how well it’s been received.”

Celebs Embracing Fitness in Their Own Way

Coleman’s down-to-earth advice echoes the experiences of other celebrities who are navigating their own fitness journeys:

  • Kaley Cuoco incorporates incline treadmill walks and even walks backward to stay in shape post-pregnancy.

  • Becky G says her motivation comes from wanting to be the best version of herself. Whether it's a home workout or a walk, she focuses on consistency.

  • Kelly Clarkson credits walking in NYC and using infrared saunas as part of her health routine.

  • Julianne Hough gets her movement in by walking her dog and attending Kinrgy, Pilates, and yoga classes.

  • Kate Hudson dances around the house when she’s short on time—because even just a few minutes of movement counts.

Other stars like DJ Khaled, Padma Lakshmi, and Lana Condor have also opened up about how they’ve made fitness work for their lifestyles—whether it’s golf, VR games, or jump rope.

Final Takeaway

If you’ve been struggling to find the motivation or time to exercise, Dani Coleman’s advice is a great reminder that fitness doesn’t have to be extreme to be effective.

“Find your reason, start small, and build from there,” she said. “It’s not a sprint—it’s a marathon.”
