Osimhen, who is returning to Napoli after an impressive loan spell at Galatasaray, remains one of the most sought-after forwards in world football. The 25-year-old lit up the Turkish Super Lig, netting 25 goals and providing 5 assists in just 29 appearances, helping Galatasaray dominate the league.
Now back with Napoli, Osimhen’s current contract runs until 2026, but his future remains uncertain. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal has already submitted a formal proposal and is willing to activate his €75 million release clause. The club sees him as a vital part of newly appointed coach Simone Inzaghi’s plans for the next season.
Despite past interest from English Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United, a move to England never materialized. However, the Chelsea link was heavily fueled by former Blues stars John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba, who reportedly tried to convince Osimhen to choose Stamford Bridge as his next destination.
In a previous interview, Mikel had expressed strong hopes for the Nigerian forward to join Chelsea:
“I hope Chelsea fans will finally see him at the club. I’ve been sending him texts and making calls to make sure Chelsea stays top on his list.”
Mikel added that Osimhen already has a deep admiration for Chelsea and would be an incredible addition if the deal comes through.
“Didier [Drogba] is also talking to him, sharing what the club means to us. We’d all love to see him there. Yes, it’s a massive transfer fee, but it would be absolutely worth it.”
For now, all eyes are on Osimhen as he decides the next chapter of his career. Whether it’s a historic switch to Saudi Arabia or a surprise move to the Premier League, one thing is certain — the Nigerian star’s future will be one of the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window.
