BREAKING: I Pity Tinubu — 22 PDP Governors Endorsed Jonathan and He Still Lost, Says Senator Ali Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has expressed concern over the recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, recalling that a similar move failed in the past.
Speaking on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, Ndume distanced himself from the endorsement of Tinubu by 22 APC governors on May 22, 2025. He referenced the 2015 election, where former President Goodluck Jonathan, despite receiving the backing of 22 PDP governors, was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
Ndume, a long-serving senator and prominent APC member, said he walked out of the event at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa when the endorsement took place, stressing that he had originally attended for a summit, not a political declaration.
“I was there for a summit. When it turned into a voice vote for endorsing Mr. President, I quietly left. That doesn’t mean I’m not in the APC — it just wasn’t right,” Ndume said.
He criticized the state of the nation under Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting worsening insecurity, high inflation, and increasing hardship for ordinary Nigerians.
“The country is in a very bad shape. Nigerians can’t see any hope. They are beginning to doubt the so-called Renewed Hope,” he added.
Ndume warned that political endorsements alone don't guarantee electoral victory, citing Jonathan’s failed re-election as a cautionary example.
“History should guide us. Jonathan had 22 governors backing him, money was spent, and even the election was postponed — but he still lost badly. I pity Mr. President if he thinks endorsement equals victory,” Ndume said.
