Tesla’s 2025 Model 3 Proves How Far EVs Have Come Since 2012

Electric vehicles have come a long way and Elon Musk’s recent post highlights just how much progress Tesla has made in a little over a decade. @stevenmarkryan @elonmusk

In 2012, Tesla’s Model S was a luxury electric car with a range of 265 miles and a starting price of nearly $80,000. Fast-forward to 2025, and the Model 3 Standard Range delivers 312 miles of range, a top speed of 125 mph, and 0–60 mph in 5.8 seconds all for just $36,990.

When adjusted for inflation, the 2012 Model S 85 would cost over $112,000 today, meaning the 2025 Model 3 offers more range, similar performance, and advanced features at less than one-third the price.

This dramatic improvement showcases not just Tesla’s innovation, but also the broader advancement of EV technology making sustainable driving faster, cheaper, and more accessible to everyone.

With a decade of breakthroughs in battery efficiency, manufacturing, and AI-assisted driving, Tesla’s 2025 lineup represents the future Musk envisioned years ago: an electric car for every driver.
