After months of speculation, Real Housewives of New York City star Jessel Taank has confirmed that the show’s 16th season is actively being developed. This comes after Andy Cohen described RHONY as being “between seasons,” putting fans on edge about its future.
Speaking exclusively to E! News at a Diwali event on October 3, Jessel shared:
“It’s definitely in the works. There will be several announcements coming soon.”
As a fashion publicist who joined the RHONY reboot for Seasons 14 and 15, Jessel acknowledged that revamping such an iconic franchise involves trial and error.
“They've never done anything like this before,” she admitted. “Sometimes they’ll get it right the first time. Sometimes they won’t.”
For Jessel, the cast is everything. She stressed the importance of balancing personalities, saying,
“You can never predict how that’s going to unfold.”
Season 15 ended with major drama, particularly between costars Brynn Whitfield and Rebecca Minkoff, which dominated the reunion and left many fans wondering where the show was headed next. While Brynn has since exited the series, Jessel expressed gratitude for her contributions.
“I wish her the best,” Jessel said. “Reality TV is a very aggressive platform … it’s not easy. We’re all just doing our best.”
The RHONY reboot aimed to spotlight diversity and fresh voices—a challenge Jessel says was more difficult than anticipated. She explained:
“We had really big shoes to fill … the fan base was strong. You sort of have to erase memory and say, ‘We’re going to try something new.’”
As fans eagerly await more news about Season 16, Jessel’s words give hope that RHONY’s next chapter is on the horizon.
