Ruben Amorim Shrugs Off Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Visit, Calls It “Normal” Amid Manchester United’s Tough Start

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has downplayed the significance of a meeting with club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe at the Red Devils’ training base this week, describing their conversation as “perfectly normal” despite the team’s rocky start to the season.

Ratcliffe visited United’s Carrington Training Complex ahead of this weekend’s crucial clash against Chelsea  a fixture that will be shown live on Sky Sports  to check in with the club’s coaching staff and players. With mounting pressure on the manager following a disappointing run of results, the visit sparked speculation about Amorim’s future at Old Trafford.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Amorim attempted to ease tensions by injecting some humour into the situation.

“It was just a normal conversation,” he said. “This is Manchester United  maybe the club with more pressure than any other in the world. We know that, and we want to win. He didn’t come to fire me. I joked with him that he was here to offer me a new contract!”

The Portuguese coach, who took over at United after impressing at Sporting Lisbon, admitted that scrutiny is part of the job but emphasised his focus remains on improving performances and delivering victories for the fans.

United face Chelsea this Sunday in what is already being billed as a pivotal match in their season. With the club’s co-owner now visibly involved and expectations running high, all eyes will be on Amorim and his players to see how they respond on the pitch.
