Ekiti State Government Bans Graduation Ceremonies in Schools

The Ekiti State Government has announced a ban on graduation ceremonies for pupils in kindergarten, nursery, primary, and secondary schools, both public and private, across the state.

This new directive, which takes effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, was communicated through a circular issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Mike Omolayo.

According to the circular, the policy aims to ease the financial burden on parents and eliminate the excesses often linked to graduation events in schools.

Additionally, the state government revealed changes to its textbook review policy. Primary school textbooks will now be reviewed once every six years, while the review cycle for secondary school textbooks has been extended from three years to four years.

Parents and guardians have also been advised that textbooks can be passed down to younger siblings, provided the books remain in good condition.
