During a recent interview, former U.S. President Donald Trump jokingly pressed the infamous “red button” on his Oval Office desk, teasing that it was linked to a nuclear weapon. However, instead of triggering global catastrophe, it simply summoned his favorite drink—a Diet Coke.  

In a lighthearted moment on Wednesday (March 19), Trump, currently serving his second term in the White House, revived a joke he first made in 2017. Speaking with Fox News' Laura Ingraham, he pointed to the small red button on his desk, saying, "Everyone thinks that's the nuclear [button]... They say if I press this, it's the end of the world." Then, to the interviewer’s surprise, he pressed it.  

Rather than launching missiles, the button signaled a staff member to bring Trump a Diet Coke—confirming that the so-called “nuclear button” is, in reality, his personal soda delivery system.
